This is the ferry that travels to Hailuoto. It is running all winter too for those who don't want or can't use the ice road.
Last sunday The Artist took me for a car ride on an ice road that is made every year between Oulu and Hailuoto. The road is about seven kilometers long and the views are great.

@Ruthiebear: Every winter when the sea freezes enough the Finnish transportation agency opens an ice road to this place (and to some other places too), it's basically a way plowed on the ice and there are no additional structures added to support the road. If the ice breaks the ice road breaks.
