Beautiful picture, Squirrel is a really nice guy, as long as it does not get inside the house! Do not put your fingers in too close, remember it now! :-))Haleja.

Happy Friday for both of you!

@Oiva: Thank you.

Perfect shot, great exposure, plenty of detail in there. I'd be more than happy with this.

7 Jun 2013 8:19am

@Curly: Thank you.
I am really happy with this. It's a hand held shot and surprisingly not much affected by my shaking hands. :)

Aubélia from Kortrijk, Belgium

@Aubélia: Thank you. Good day to you too.

Chennai City from Chennai, India

There are two kinds squirrels present. Red Squirrels are small charismatic mammals which depend on a woodland habitat to live, eat and breed. On the otherhand eastern grey squirrels are medium sized tree squirrels. Males and females are similar in size and color. The fur on their back ranges fromdark grey to pale grey. This red squirrel is recognisable by their red fur, ear tufts and long, fluffy tails. Thank you for the picture. Regards

7 Jun 2013 11:30am

@Chennai City: Thank you for the piece of information, that may be useful to someone wandering here to see this photo. I must add that actually there are other squirrels too, for example the Siberian flying squirrel which I still have not managed to capture with the camera.
This little squirrel is a red one.

The Mouse from Glasgow, United Kingdom

Wow, great shot, quick on the trigger too as these wee fellas don't stay still long.
Think chennai has just swallowed wikipedia. :)

7 Jun 2013 12:44pm

@The Mouse: Thank you. This one actually stopped there and looked me very carefully after I started to keep squirrel noises. :)
LOL for the swallowed wikipedia. :D

CElliottUK from Reading, United Kingdom

You are so lucky to have these rather than the pox infested, bully boy, grey ones

7 Jun 2013 2:00pm

@CElliottUK: But I loved my grey ones in Leixlip and I still miss them! :) But yeah, these are great too. This is the third I have seen in the whole time here in Ed.

Gheorghe from Bucuresti, Romania

Excellent close up portrait of this fine guy. We have here in Bucharest squirrels having hairy tafts on the top of the ears.

7 Jun 2013 3:37pm

@Gheorghe: Thank you. These usually have the hairy bits on their ears, but I think this might be quite young one so maybe that's why those are missing from him.

Devi from Chennai, India

fantastic capture !!! Excellent closeup !!!

7 Jun 2013 3:49pm

@Devi: Thank you!

Ruthiebear from Titusville, NJ, United States

Cute expression and what a pretty color! Out squirrels are either gray or black.

7 Jun 2013 4:51pm

@Ruthiebear: He is a beauty, I hope to meet him again. :)
I would really like to see a black squirrel as those we don't have here.
