Firemen in Leixlip

Posted by
ursulakatariina (Ed, Sweden) on 9 November 2012 in Documentary & Street.

Yesterday evening the firemen were playing with their gear at the fire station back yard again. I went out and took few shots of them. As I was feeling quite uninspired, I resorted back using automatic settings in camera and refused to lift the flash even if the camera asked to do so. The shots aren't great but they aren't too bad either.
I usually don't use the auto settings, but sometimes it seems to be an ok option. :)

Nice to see you! I hope you enjoy seeing what I saw earlier.
Please, leave a comment so I know you have been here.

I got a colour spotlight, see it here.

Please read this.

Also I will not use automatic settings. It isn't very sporting spirit. This image is a still a good documentary.

Great picture, often ask my camera flash, but a picture has been more successful without!:-))Haleja.

Good weekend for both of you!

Have a good weekend!

It's not bad at all considering how strong that background light is shining directly into the lens.

@Curly: I have another one where the platform (or what ever it is called) is a little lower and hides the light, but it doesn't look as good as this one. I kind of like that strong light there.

Richard from Ellemford, United Kingdom

Really atmospheric!

I think that things are always better with the flash off if you can get away with it. Nicely done

@CElliottUK: I think some things look very good with the flash, but those need to be small and close.
Thank you!

The Mouse from Glasgow, United Kingdom

Do you often watch the firemen at night time?
Shot's fine, i like it this way, flash might have scared them away.

9 Nov 2012 4:05pm

@The Mouse: No, not too often - they only play around the station on Thursday evenings. :)
Thank you!

yiannis krikis from thessaloniki, Greece

I don't like using a flash either. I think the lights look awesome in this image.
