A Robin and A Bowl

Posted by
ursulakatariina (Ed, Sweden) on 18 January 2012 in Animal & Insect.

We have a nasty squirrel living in the forest next to our house. That squirrel has stolen all the food from the bird feeders (he's been seen in action) and where ever the feeders are hung, the squirrel finds his way in. Yesterday I put some mealworms in a bowl and took it out for the birds as they do come to the garden and try to find food and I cannot look them and not to give them some food - it seems the squirrel is not interested of the worms, but only time will tell if he'll want to eat them too...
Robin seems happy with the bowl of worms.

@Jypyä Pop: I think the bird thinks 'go away with that thing and let me eat!'... :)

Mealworms are the best attractor for Robins(And if it were down to me, I would shoot every grey squirrel I saw-and not with a lens!)

@CElliottUK: They do seem to like the worms very much and so far no squirrels have been seen eating the worms. :)

@Pedro_eric: Thank you!

Keep going on the worms, squirrels are cute but also a real pest at times, sort of love/hate thing.

@The Mouse: I think I'll go with the worms for a while and then after some time try to go back to seeds and energy balls again...

Sally from Glasgow, United Kingdom

how are the rats?

18 Jan 2012 7:41pm

@Sally: I think the rats are not fine, actually I think they are all dead - the landlord has had his handy man spreading rat poison into our garden (I'm not very happy about that as the rats have not done anything bad to me and he didn't ask if it's ok to spread the poison in the garden before doing so)...

Aika kenkkuja otuksia varsinki ku just ostin 50 palloo enkä haluis niitä oravalle syöttää. :)
